the DEVIL WEARS PRADA MAKEUP TUTORIAL

While Savannah was home for Christmas she sent me a text of the picture below and told me she wanted me to do her makeup to look like this. Instead, I did my makeup to look like this for a tutorial for you :) I look nothing like Anne Hathaway so my end result looks different than the picture below, but I tried my best. Also, this is the first time we've ever put together a tutorial like this so we are working some of the kinks out.

Step 1- Apply Mac paint in Bare Canvas all over the lid.

Step 2- Add Mac eye shadow in Woodwinked from the lash line to the crease. I used Mac brush #213.

Step 3- To create a defined edge I used Mac brush #266 to add Mac eyeshadow in Mystery at the corner of my eyes.

Step 4- I blended this line with Mac brush #217

Step 5- I added more Mystery eyeshadow and blended in the crease with Mac brush #217

Step 6- To make the outer edge more defined and darker, I added Mac eye shadow in Carbon, Espresso, and Ground Brown with Mac brush #266 and blended with #217. I continued this process until I got the desired definition. I also added more Woodwinked. The idea is to keep layering colors and blending.

Step 7- I added Mac eye shadow in Brule to the brow bone and Mac eye shadow in Phloof to the inner corner. I used Mac brush #224 for the brow bone and #219 for the inner corner. Mac eye shadow in Swiss Chocolate was added to the crease as well and blended with #217.

Step 8- The last step I added Mac eye liner in Engraved and then went the line with Mac eyeshadow in Espresso to soften the edge using Mac brush #219. I did this on both the top and bottom lash line.

This was my attempt at trying to position myself as close to the inspiration picture as possible. To recreate her lip color I used a bunch of different lip pencils & lipsticks, so there is no way I could begin to tell you how to do it.

This is a great basic technique for doing a smokey eye.  As mentioned before, you want to layer the colors and blend. In retrospect to create a look even more like the inspiration picture, I could have gone even darker on the outer edge.
