the TUTORIAL: QUICK & SIMPLE UPDO

Photobucket
Here's an easy and quick updo that's super fun. You could wear this during cocktail hour or save it for when your hair is on it's last day before you wash it again!
Photobucket
Start with brushed-through hair.
Photobucket
Tease your hair at the crown.
Photobucket
Smooth out the top of your hair.
Photobucket
Separate your hair into three parts.
Photobucket
Separate one of the sections into 3 parts, and braid one of the parts. Then you will braid the 3 parts together and secure with a clear elastic.
Photobucket
Repeat on all sections of the hair. Keep a clear elastic at the top of the middle section, but not on the outside braids. We want the middle braid to stay put but we want the outside sections to be looser on the sides of your head.
Photobucket
Loosen the braids up a little with your fingers.
Photobucket
Roll each braid up into a bun and secure with bobby pins. It may take a few bobby pins to secure each bun.
Photobucket
And done! Check out the rest of the views of Casey's hair below.

    1. So glad you had luck with it. It is a little fancier than normal but we think it's not so fancy that you can't wear it everyday. Thanks for stopping by!

  12. Savannah, I just wanted to say I almost had a heart attack or peed my pants to see this tutorial because in the next to the last photo, the side view, you look exactly like me! I was seriously wondering how someone put my picture on there! I showed my husband and he agreed! It was such a funny experience!

  14. Found you via pinterest. 1) I ADORE the color of your hair!!! Seriously! 2) The first time I saw this pinned, it was just to a pic & I couldn't tell that you had put a tiny braid in each of the three sections. I was still able to do the look, but am looking forward to seeing how it will look when done exactly as you show it. 3) I think this is a great, easy up-do. Perfect for casual (I wore it just to head out to Sweet Frog for some yummy frozen yogurt w/the family & some friends), but could easily be a simple up-do for work or even after with some well placed hair-bling (fancy bobby-pins! LOL).

    1. 1) Why thank you. It's actually an organic hair color that I got done at Studio Green Salon in Nashville. I've been so happy with the color and doesn't wash out like regular hair color.
      2) Yeah that's a subtle detail that isn't totally necessary, but fun nonetheless.
      3) That's why we like it, because it's so versatile.

      Thanks for coming by!

  32. Just saw this, tried it and could not love it more! I love the way the braids make your hair around your face. It pulls it just right so it frames your face differently then just pulling it back. Thanks for sharing :)

  33. This looks fantastic but I'm also wondering about how you got your hair color. I've been looking for a good red highlight with my dark-ish brown hair. Yours looks great!

    1. I got my hair done at a salon. I have no idea what he used but it was organic hair coloring and washed out very quickly. I love the color but it was too hard to maintain. I'm blonde now.

  36. Love this!! Ive been looking everywhere to find a "show me" way to do these buns everyone seems to know how to do but me!! I have long hair but like it up on most days because who's got time to fix long hair everyday??!! At 47 you'd think I would know a little smthg about how to put my hair up besides just a high ponytail huh? well..I don't!! Im very hair challenged!! I don't even know if I can do this one but you did give me step by step instructions so will give it a try. I need to get some clear little ties and bobby pins, will do that asap and give this a try!! Thanks!!
