I was reading Psalm 119 this morning and I found a note that said, "Jesus has more love than the world has hurt." I don't know who originally said that but can we rest on that for a minute. Jesus has more love than the world has hurt. That brings such comfort to me. No, that truth doesn't magically take away the pain I am feeling, but it is a reminder that He loves me. No matter what is happening in my life Jesus has a plan and He can turn bad into good. Most of us could probably look back and think of a time when we had so much pain and sadness and it felt like it would never end. Then, that suffering opened up a door that could have never been opened otherwise and bad was turned into good AND your faith was stronger. God is pretty awesome that way.
This is a tough pill to swallow but sometimes the most merciful thing God can do is let us suffer. He will do whatever it takes to draw us closer to Him, and we have to realize that is what is best for us. When He is not just the center of our lives but encompasses ALL areas of our lives, then and only then are we free. He wants us to be free. He wants us to delight in Him. When we delight in Him and seek to glorify Him, everything else is insignificant. In times of pain there is one truth I always go back to- God is always good. When I frame my circumstances in that truth, my perspective changes. Again, the pain isn't gone, but there is peace in the midst of pain. To me one of the greatest evidences of the Lord in my life is when I have peace in the midst of turmoil.
I hope you delight in His love for you today. If that is hard for you, go outside and look at nature (or if the weather is bad look at a picture of a rose on the internet). That may sound ridiculous but His creation is magnificent. He could have made the world without color. Nature is a way God shows off and we get to benefit from that. And goodness gracious, if you don't feel His love, first pray about it and tell Him. He already knows anyway. Then open the Word. The Bible is a love story.
Verses about God's love:
1 John 3:1
There are many many more but these are just a few. God is love. He isn't loving as if He has a character trait of being loving. No, He IS love.
