let love be genuine

"Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality." Romans 12:9-13

These verses make my heart soar. As we have just celebrated Independence Day, we could better ourselves, our country, and our communities if we ask, "how could I be better?" Follow these verses and you will be better. Think of what the world would look like if we made these verses our motto.

One criticism of America that has always driven me crazy is when people complain about how much we help other countries but we don't even help our own people. My favorite response to that is: what are you doing to help people around you? Don't criticize someone else for not doing it the way you want if you're not doing anything. If you don't like the way something is done, then do it better. We cannot depend on our government to do better. We have to be better!
