Today we are going to show you a way to fix your plain pair of flats! Just add a little spray paint, a bow and some jewels and you've got a special pair of shoes!
You will need:
Flats (Shoes)
A small amount of Vinyl
Quick Drying Craft Glue
Spray Paint (We used Silver)
Craft Jewels
Clothespins
Painter's Tape
Scotch Tape
Tape off the top of your flats with painter's tape. For extra protection on the rest of your shoes, cover with some paper.
Let the paint dry as stated on the bottle's directions and pull the painter's tape off. If the line isn't completely perfect, don't worry too much, we will be covering a lot of it up with the bow.
Cut 4 strips of Vinyl and Spray Paint them them same color as the tip of your shoes.
2 strips: 8 inches by 1.5 inches
2 strips: .75 inches by about 5 inches
Turn one of the thicker pieces facing downward.
Pull the edges together to form the bow shape.
Secure the edges with a piece of scotch tape.
On the inside of the vinyl, dab quite a bit of craft glue.
Push the taped edges down to the other side of the vinyl.
Put a line of glue on the bow shape and on the back of one of the thinner pieces of vinyl.
Wrap the thinner piece of vinyl around the middle and cut to the right size.
The front of the bow should then look a little something like this.
On the shoe put a large amount of glue where the bow will be placed.
Place the bow right in the center of the tip of the shoe.
I lined the edge of the bow up to the edge of the inside of the shoe.
Place three clothespins on the shoe like in the picture. This is to keep the bow in place while drying.
After the glue has dried, take off the middle clothespin and place three dots of glue in the center of the thin piece of vinyl.
Place three craft jewels on the dots and let dry!
When it's all done your shoes should look something like this! (Maybe in different colors)

No offence, but I think those look much tackier than the shoes before the modifications.
ReplyDeleteWell good thing no one is holding you hostage, forcing you to do this. We appreciate you criticism though! Let me return the favor by letting you know it's actually spelled "offense." Thank you "Anonymous" person.
Delete...your just mad because these are the most god awful shoes anyone has ever seen. That person was just trying to help. You should delete this post before anyone else sees these horrifying shoes!
DeleteFYI: it should be, "you're just mad..." not "your." But to each his own, Anonymous. To each his own...
DeleteI like the idea, although I think you could've made triangle bows instead of just straight rectangle ones, it would've made it a lot cuter~ I've actually done this before, but with glitter and it looks amazing!
DeleteWe specifically wanted to make them the straight bows, and we love the results. Glad yours turned out so well. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBTW, "offence" was the correct word they were trying to use.
Delete3. annoyance, displeasure, or resentment
give offence (to) to cause annoyance or displeasure (to)
take offence to feel injured, humiliated, or offended
6. a source of annoyance, displeasure, or anger
^^^See?
Next time, try not to school someone on their spelling or grammar, because for all you know they could have a disability, a failed education, or simply be using a spelling/word you aren't familiar with.
Also, very creative idea with the shoes. It makes more sense to jazz something up than to throw it away.
Cute! Great idea! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by & we're glad you like it!
DeleteLove the metallic bows! I've been looking for a way to make over the super-scuffed toes of my favorite shoes, and I may have found my inspiration!

That's a great idea! I hadn't even thought to use the bows as a way to cover up scuffed up shoes.
DeleteWell, I think it's a fabulous way to spice up some old shoes! Sheesh, it's the idea that counts, anyone can do the bow however they'd like, it's no big deal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being so inspiring, ladies!
