We forever have been talking about how we really wanted to be able to use puff paint in a "classy" way. Basically we couldn't remember puff paint ever looking un-cheesy and if you think about puff paint really... how could it be? It's raised fabric paint in neon colors. Anyways, we were determined so this is what we came up with. It's simple and I'm actually assuming that when people see this shirt, they won't even know it was made with puff paint.
I just used a plain gray t-shirt.
And you will also need some puff paint. I used glittery gold and black.
Put some paper between the layers of the shirt before you start. This will prevent the paint from bleeding through to the back. Start by drawing a large heart in the center of the shirt. It doesn't have to be perfect and it doesn't have to be symmetrical. You will be putting enough layers on to even it out.
Add another heart with the same color.
Keep overlapping heart shapes until you have as many as you think looks good.
Start adding hearts with the other color of puff paint.
After I added all the gold hearts, I went back and added some more black to make the hearts look more intertwined.
Let your puff paint dry overnight and wear your new puff paint shirt proudly. I'm sure we will always be trying to come up with good ways to use puff paint. Any ideas?

  1. That's definitely a hip way to use puff paints. Much better than the stuff I used to make at summer camp as a kid!

  2. I LOVE this idea! It actually makes me want to go to the store right now to buy a plain grey shirt and some paint!
