3 Ways You Can Save Money On Travel

Thank you Expedia for sponsoring this post. Book your travel on Expedia.com to save with the Add-On Advantage!

Casey and I have a long list of places we want to visit just for fun, and I'm sure you do too. So when Expedia wanted to collaborate on a trip with us, NYC immediately came to mind. Luckily we were able to get the best deal with Expedia Add-On Advantage™. Today we are going to share how you too can plan a trip and save money!

1. Be flexible with your dates. For you this may mean booking your travel during off-season for wherever you are going. Going when it isn't tourist season can save you a ton! If the place you are going doesn't really have an "off-season", there's still an option.

When you settle on a time frame, check out what days are cheaper to fly. I've heard a lot of different advice about what days of the week are cheapest to fly on, but those days have always varied for us. Just make sure to check out the two or three days before your trip and the two or three days after and see if it's worth it to move your dates.

2. Use the Expedia Add-On Advantage™Program. This is a new addition to the Expedia platform, and it's pretty awesome. If you've been following our advice from our first point, you are probably extensively researching prices on flights. When the time comes when you've found a great deal, you can book it on Expedia without having to book a hotel room.

In the past, if you wanted to find the best travel deals, you had to book everything at once. But with this new program you can book your flight and then book your hotel later while still reaping the benefits of booking together in a package deal. You have access to all the hotel discount up until the day of your trip. This allows you to take your time to find the right hotel for you, and it helps you break up your payments for your trip! What's not to love?!

3. Pack in a carry-on and avoid check-in fees. Now I know this tip won't save you hundreds of dollars, but it will be enough to pay for a meal or two. And when you are traveling on the cheap, that's something! We went on a trip to Portugal earlier this year and carried on to 8 different planes. Those checked bag fees would've really added up by the end of the trip! So pack light and save yourself some cheddar.

We hope these tips will help you save money on your upcoming trips! If you liked this post and would like to see more like it, please pin an image from this post to your Pinterest page!
