manic MANI MONDAY: ONE HEART NAIL AND SOLID GLITTER NAIL

You may have already seen these nails once in our "SIGNATURE COLORS" post from yesterday and if you haven't, don't forget to check that out! We promised instructions on how we created our nail looks and here they are!

For Casey's look...
1. Paint all of your nails red except one finger on each hand.
We wanted the ring finger to be the different one so we painted it pink.
2. Take a pencil and put a dot of red nail polish on the tip.
3. Create 3 dots on the pink nail with the pencil. You sort of create a triangle on the nail and this will help to keep the heart a the size you want. Free hand a heart shape on the nail. You may need to get someone to help you this part.
4. Make sure you finish with a top coat!

For Savannah's look...
1. Paint one nail at a time with a light pink polish.
(If you are not using pink glitter, use a polish color that goes with your glitter color.)
2. Sprinkle glitter on top of the nail. Shake off any excess glitter and
tap the remaining glitter into your nail. Repeat steps 1 and 2 on each nail.
3. Coat all nails with a clear coat.
I used Essie's No Chips Ahead because well, I want that glitter to stay.
4. Bam! Sparkly nails.

When you are ready to remove the glitter, soak each nail in polish remover before you jump in. These nails are really more fun to wear than they are to remove but I feel like it's worth it!

P.S. We would looove it if you became a new follower of our blog!

signature COLORS: VALENTINE'S DAY

As a single girl, I look to Valentine's Day this year for a release of "cheesy" energy. Sometimes you just want to be a dork. So... what better way to celebrate than by getting all dressed up in the holiday's signature colors! Here you will find ways that Casey and I have incorporated the good ole red and pink into our routines! We have separated everything into one of two categories- subtle or extreme. If you want to go crazy and be a little more sassy this Valentine's Day, try our EXTREME looks. If you want to stay on the sweet side, stick with our SUBTLE looks.

EXTREME HAIR
Temporary Hot Pink Tips

1. Wet your hair where you want the color to be.
2. Twist your hair and stroke with a soft pastel (like the chalky kind you create art with.)
3. Let hair dry and run a brush through the hair to remove excess chalk.
4. Style your hair in a way where it will not move a lot. It is best to braid your hair or pin it up in a bun to save your clothes from forming into the color of your hair. (I wore a black top so I could actually wear my hair down.)

WARNING- Your hands will more than likely end up like this... But with some soap and water it washes right off.

SUBTLE OUTFITS
Savannah's Take
To make this outfit even more subtle, you could leave out the hat, we just really wanted to say "Valentine's Day" with these looks. Pairing a red skirt with a very pale pink top works so well, you could wear it on any day- you don't have to save it for February 14th. Adding neutral accessories and shoes tones down the look just enough.

Casey's Take
What better way to dress for the occasion than with a rose print shirt? The mixed denim keep this look simple. Casey played this look up with piled on bracelets and a sweet red headband.

EXTREME OUTFITS
Savannah's Take
So maybe I'm taking the pink and red thing a little too far but I just can't resist... I like the clash that comes from a bright orange-y red and hot bubble gum-ish pink. I added in a plain red to provide a buffer and the black blazer cools it off, barely.
Dress- F21, Blazer- F21, Tights- Target, Locket Necklace- F21, Scarf- F21... seems there is a trend in this outfit... Shoes- Nine West, Hoop earrings- I can't remember but let's just say F21, it's very likely.
Casey's Take
Seems Casey likes the red and pink clash too. This look shows us just how versatile this denim jacket is. The glitter belt and the heart necklace add a special sparkly touch.
Dress- Suzy Chin for Maggy Boutique , Jacket- American Eagle, Watch- homemade (DIY coming THIS week), Necklace- Target, Belt- NY&Co., Headband- F21, Shoes-Jessica Simpson

manic MANI MONDAY: TRIBAL NAILS

Photobucket
Photobucket
Paint one coat on your nails. I used a metallic purple.
Photobucket
Cut strips of tape. The width of these are about 1/4 of the width of my fingernail.
Photobucket
Put two pieces of tape on each nail so there are two open spaces on your nail. Make sure the tape is attached to your nail very well so you get a sharp line in the end. (I use packing tape.)
Photobucket
Paint one color in one of the spaces and another in the other space. Pull the tape off immediately after painting, before you move on to another nail. Repeat for each nail.
Photobucket
Let dry completely.
Photobucket
Place a piece of chevron tape toward to middle of the nail and a piece of regular tape on the tip of your nail. To create chevron tape I used zig zag scissors and cut little strips on painter's tape- I used frog tape.
Photobucket
Paint over the whole nail with black nail polish and remove the tape quickly. Do one nail at a time.
Photobucket
I never worry about what I get on my skin because I always clean up my nails with nail polish remover and a q-tip.
Photobucket
I took acrylic paint in yellow and white and used a pencil tip to line the top of the black sections on the nails. After you clean up the edges of your nails, finish with a top coat and done!

P.S. I always paint my right hand first because it takes longer and I have the most patience when I first start.
