does PINTEREST KNOW EVERYTHING?

We all love Pinterest and probably spend a little more time on it than we'd like to admit. Every time I'm on Pinterest, I see something else I want to try or make and usually, I do. So we figured, WHY NOT show you all of Pinterest endeavors and pick out the really awesome things from the not-so-amazing things. So from time to time that's exactly what we are going to do! So here we go...first up we have the "alcohol makes your broken makeup troubles fade away" trick. Sounds AMAZING. Casey and I both had a few things that we have been holding on to because... well, it's hard to just throw away your makeup because you dropped it. One time!

So here is the makeup we wanted to fix. Two of these aren't broken but they are hard to use so if this worked, we were going to break those and make them more usable.

Messed up makeup.

Add alcohol.

Mash the makeup and alcohol together with your finger. It will get very very messy and you will probably lose a little bit of your makeup. You may need to add some more alcohol if the mixture is too dry. (If it looks like this picture, you will probably need to add more.)

This is what it looked like when it finally mixed completely together. The texture was like a light mousse.
Photobucket
As you can see this gets really messy.
Photobucket
All cleaned up.

This is what they all looked like when we got them all mixed together. Seems too good to be true!

When it all dried this is what they looked like.
Pros: The makeup is definitely usable again! Word.
Cons: The makeup randomly flakes off and when it dries, and it has little cracks all over.

So does Pinterest know everything? This is definitely a good quick fix if your broken makeup was almost brand new and you really can't bring yourself to replace it. This works much much better if your makeup was still full before it broke. If you only had a little bit left, you'd probably be better off just buying a new one. But this trick does wonders for people like us, who are on a strict budget!

What other Pinterest projects do you think we should try?

***UPDATE 2/29- So this has proven to not be such a great fix.  The pink blush has already cracked again & it has not been dropped.  We still think it's worth trying but you'll probably have to replace your broken make up after all.  Boo :(

the TUTORIAL: GET PERFECT WAVES IN UNDER 10 MINUTES

null
So I curl my hair probably 9 out of every 10 times that I do my hair. It is easy and it is fast. I usually get nice feedback on the way my hair is done so I decided to do a tutorial on it. When I do my hair this way, it is to make it look wavy, not necessarily curly. It takes me under 10 minutes to curl all of my hair so this video it kind of long. I wanted to show that it really is so easy and quick so none of this video is edited. After you have seen the way I curl my hair, you can fast forward to 8:25 on the video to skip the boring parts! Hope this helps someone!

manic MANI MONDAY: PASTEL AND POPPY FLOWER NAILS

Pictures from here here here and here
We are soooo ready for Spring! Aren't you? So tired of the Nashville weather not being able to make up it's mind!! So I decided that if I wanted to be pulled out of these winter blues- I'd need a fresh and fun mani! Here's what I did to create these fun Pastel and Poppy Flower Nails!

null
The best way to create these nails is to do one nail at a time. First you need to paint the background color of your nail. I used Essie's 'Nice is Nice,' which is a pastel purple.
null
While the background color is still wet, paint on the poppy flowers. (I used N.Y.C. polish in 'Times Square Tangerine Creme' for the flowers.) To do this all you really need to do is create a floral-shaped blob of nail polish. I started by creating a really fat "X" shape with the polish brush and then painted it into a more circular shape.
null
Basically you have created a rugged looking circular shape. (This tutorial is meant to give these flowers a sort of abstract look so don't get caught up in making the shapes perfect.)
null
While your nail is still wet, take either a nail art brush or a pencil dipped in polish and put a dot in the center of the flowers. I used black. The reason we want to do this when nails are still wet is so the colors sort of mush together. You also don't get the bumpy effect on your nails if you do this but, you must work quickly. (The bumpy effect I'm referring to is the one that is created by putting many layers on your nails.)
null
Take a pencil dipped in a pale green polish (I used Avon's 'Green with Envy') and add 2 dots on either side of each flower. These should only show up just enough create interest so it's best not to use a darker green color.
null
Finish with a clear top coat- I used Essie's 'No Chips Ahead.' Then you are finished! You could create these nails in pretty much any color you wanted but since poppy flowers were my inspiration, I decided to use a color similar to their true color!
